Disney boss: Toy Story 4 is happening

To infinity and beyond!

THERE’S A SNAKE in my boot! In a move that may surprise many, Disney has revealed that a fourth Toy Story movie will be released in 2017.

The first Toy Story movie came out in 1995 (can you believe that?) and immediately changed the face of animated movies – a highly successful sequel followed, with the Pixar series seemingly wrapping up in 2010 with Toy Story 3.

However, Walt Disney CEO Robert Iger has announced that a fourth instalment will hit theatres on June 16, 2017.

Interestingly, Entertainment Weekly reports that the movie will be written by Rashida Jones (she of Parks and Recreation and The Office fame) and her screenwriting partner Will McCormack.

The story was dreamed up by John Lasseter, who helmed all three Toy Story movies, as well as the brains behind Up, Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc.

Lasseter has acknowledged that Toy Story 3 appeared to close off the series for good, but said once they came up with a new idea they had to see where it went:

…I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie – and I wanted to direct it myself.

OK. We didn’t want to be excited, but we’re excited.
